Pollard willows were a favorite subject of Vincent Van Gogh, sketching them early in his career and painting them near the end of his life. The painting “Pollard Willows”, also known as “Road with Pollard Willows”, was created as he was recuperating from a self-inflicted ear injury brought about by a mental breakdown after a heated argument with his friend Paul Gauguin. The painful falling-out would lead Van Gogh to leave Arles and move to Saint-Remy, and the empty road bordered by pollard willows seemed to reflect his life.
Deep browns, greens, and reds of the empty, tree-bordered path inspire the Visconti Van Gogh Pen Pollard Willows fountain pen. It has a body made of resin and features a steel nib and Visconti’s magnetic cap mechanism.
We have for sale a pre-owned Visconti Van Gogh Pen Pollard Willows Pink with an F nib. It comes complete with the standard box, papers, and other inclusions.
