Souvenir de Mauve (Pink Peach Trees) was a part of Van Gogh’s collection of fruit tree paintings done in the spring of 1888. A peaceful depiction of a peach tree in bloom, it was finished on the day that Anton Mauve, his oil painting mentor and cousin by marriage, passed away. He dedicated the painting to him, signed it with his and his brother Theo’s names, and sent it to Anton’s widow. He wrote to Theo, “In memory of Mauve, we needed something that was both tender and very cheerful and not a study in a more serious key than that.”
The soft pink and white of peach blossoms inspire the Visconti Van Gogh Pen Souvenir de Mauve Pink fountain pen. It has a body made of resin and features a steel nib and Visconti’s magnetic cap mechanism.
