n photography, the term “bokeh” refers to out-of-focus images that play with light, resulting in soft and dramatic points of color. It comes from the Japanese word “boke” that translates to “blur” or “haze”.
The Namiki Yukari Shooting Star fountain pen brings to mind this effect. Inspired by a more magical interpretation of shooting stars, it reminds one of bursts of light and their afterglow as one’s eyes try to focus on a meteor shower. Created by artisan Misa・Yutaka, it features togidashi-taka maki-e (burnished raised maki-e) and raden (embedded mother of pearl), offering users an interesting visual and tactile experience. It’s crowned with a size #10 18-karat gold nib.
