While penguins are not native to Japan, the country has given a lot to their conservation. In fact, it cares for 11 species (out of 18 globally), and is known for its efforts in reviving the population of vulnerable Humboldt penguins.
Penguins are popular not just for their cuteness and eccentricity, but also for their devotion to their partners as there are species that mate for life. Depictions of them are so often seen in shows and anime that it’s not surprising that they have their own origami patterns, which are featured on the Namiki Origami Penguin fountain pen. Kokkokai’s playful maki-e of two paper birds are set against a snowfall of light blue and gold highlighted against a glossy black background.
We have for sale a brand new Namiki Origami Penguin with a No. 5, 14-karat gold nib in F. It comes complete with its protective outer box, wooden inner box, a converter, and Namiki service papers.
