Miguel de Cervantes is known as one of the best and most enduring Spanish writers. While he experienced poverty and obscurity in life, one novel cemented him as a literary giant for centuries to come — Don Quixote, which was first published in 1605. Considered as the first modern novel, it follows Alonso Quijano, an aging knight who has read too many chivalric romances for his own good, as he pursues his lofty goal of reviving chivalry. 

Don Quixote is one of the foundations of Western literature, with some writers going as far as calling it the best book of all time. It has many notable adaptations and has even been turned into a ballet performed by the world’s top ballet companies. 

In honor of the author’s great contribution to literature, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Miguel de Cervantes in 2005. The nib features an engraving of a windmill from Don Quixote’s village of La Mancha, while its clip symbolizes a knight’s lance. The pen’s gorgeous brown resin body and cap represent how Cervantes’ work has endured throughout the centuries.
