The onyx has an interesting lore. In Greek mythology, it’s said that it was formed from the goddess Aphrodite’s fingernail that her son Eros had chipped off. The word “onyx” itself is Latin for “claw” or “fingernail”, which is similar to the Greek “ὄνυξ” (ónux). Despite the name, this semi-precious stone belongs to the quartz family (and is not actually made of keratin).
A synthetic, paramount-cut onyx is featured on the Montblanc Bohème Noir, which is one of the earlier releases of the line. It’s a cartridge filler that features Montblanc’s precious black resin and has a 14K rhodium-plated retractable nib.
We have for sale a brand new Montblanc Bohème Noir with an M nib. It comes complete with its box and papers.
