Ebonite is warm to the touch, and when used in making fountain pens, it offers an interesting and comforting writing experience. This hard rubber is highly durable and wear-resistant, making it easier to care for than other materials such as resin or celluloid. The catch is that it’s prone to oxidation when often exposed to UV rays, but keeping it away from UV sources (e.g., harsh, direct sunlight) can easily remedy this.
The Sailor 1911 King of Pen Black Ebonite fountain pen has a body made of this sturdy material and a finish that only gets better through the years. This straightforward cartridge/converter cigar-shaped pen is adorned with gold trims and installed with a large, 21-karat gold nib.
We have for sale a brand-new Sailor 1911 King of Pen Black Ebonite with a B nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
