The Pilot Custom 845 Vermillion is the smaller sibling of the Custom Urushi. Design-wise, they look quite similar, but a closer inspection would reveal interesting differences, such as the two-star mark on the 845’s cap ring compared to the three-star mark on the Custom Urushi’s and the ebonite grip on the 845 compared to the Custom Urushi’s resin. 

Both pens, however, have an ebonite body and a two-tone 18K gold nib, and as their names connote, they are finished with urushi, which not only gives them that gorgeous red tint, but also makes them resistant to wear and tear.
