“Ishidatami” is the Japanese term for paving stones that were carefully laid in long roads and mountain passes to prevent erosion. These offer travelers walking from one province to another sure footing during their journey. To this day, centuries-old ishidatami can still be seen along the old Tokaido Road, which was heavily used from the 1600s to the 1800s. On the Nakasendo Way, passes near Shinchaya have had their ishidatami restored by historical groups.

The ishidatami pattern has inspired many woodblock artists and artisans and is also seen on the Pilot Silvern Ishidatami. The vintage Silvern collection features cigar-shaped fountain pens with a cap and body made of sterling silver, engraved with different designs depicting Japanese cultural symbols.

We have for sale a brand-new Pilot Silvern Ishidatami, complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
