Tabane-noshi, or noshi bundles, historically included stretched abalone wrapped in paper and were considered symbols of good luck and prosperity. As centuries went by, the abalone was replaced with a narrow strip of paper or seasonal flowers formally folded into several sheets of hosho (thick, handmade paper) and secured with mizuhiki, or stiff gold strands decoratively tied together.
Tabane-noshi is given with congratulatory gifts, especially during milestone events such as weddings, childbirth, or graduation. They’re also often depicted in traditional art and kimono fabrics due to their intricate presentation.
The Namiki Yukari Royale Noshi Bundle fountain pen takes inspiration from this unique tradition. Made by artisan Misa, it is an artful display of Togidashi-Taka Maki-e (burnished raised maki-e), a laborious blend of techniques that offers an ethereal, three-dimensional effect. It features a No. 20 18-karat gold nib.
We have for sale a brand new Namiki Yukari Royale Noshi Bundle fountain pen with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
