Namiki Yukari Royale Chinkin Cat
₱225,000.00

Cats (neko) hold a special place in Japanese culture. They are considered pets of nobles in ancient times, and those considered members of the emperor’s family are given special court ranks. In folklore, there are supernatural cats known as kaibyo. The most popular among them is the maneki-neko or beckoning cat, whose likeness is often seen in storefronts for good luck. Cats are also seen in literature, an example of which is the famous Meiji-era satirical classic “I am a Cat”, written from the point of view of a feline.

These fluffy creatures remain popular household pets in Japan, and are the inspiration for the Namiki Yukari Royal Chinkin Cat fountain pen. Featuring a cat against a background of cattails, artisan Yasuji designed it using the intricate chinkin technique, carving the base material with special chisels before inlaying the grooves with gold and lacquering them, and doing the process many times to achieve a three-dimensional effect.  This pen has gold-plated trims and a No. 20 18-karat gold nib.

We have for sale a brand-new Namiki Yukari Royale Chinkin Cat with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
