“Extra Verses” is an interesting name for Montegrappa’s 2020 limited-edition release, but it comes from the Latin quotes from Horace, Cicero, and Seneca engraved on a silver band at the edge of its cap: “Carpe diem” (“Seize the day), “Vivere est cogitare” (“To live is to think”), and “Protinus vive” (“Live in the now”).

The Extra line was initially released in 1999 and was considered as the brand’s flagship series, which utilized luxurious and responsive materials that exuded elegance in both form and function. The artisanal resin Montegrappite was first used on Extra Verses, with its interesting slurry of black, burgundy, and gold. The pen carries a piston-filling mechanism and an 18K gold nib. 

For sale is a near-mint, complete set of Montegrappa Extra Verses. It’s fitted with an M nib and has its box and all inserts intact.
