





Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love and beauty, and is also known to the Romans as Venus. According to Greek mythology, she was the daughter of Zeus and the titaness Dione, but the Roman story that says she emerged from the foam produced by Uranus’ genitals, which was thrown to the sea by Cronus.
No matter her beginnings, it was said that Aphrodite was so piercingly beautiful that she could immediately charm mortals. It was also said that she could transform into who someone considers to be most beautiful, and many writers and artists tried to capture her perfection in texts and art.
The Montegrappa Limited Edition Aphrodite fountain pen in sterling silver released in 1997 celebrates the ancient goddess’ beauty through the reinterpretation of the popular painting “Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli. It features a high relief of sterling silver that depicts Aphrodite and Adonis, whose love story ends in tragedy. Similar to ancient sculptures, it has intricate details and is highlighted by mother-of-pearl panels against a body of black ebonite.
