Fyodor Dostoyevsky was a Russian novelist best known for “Crime and Punishment”. First published in 1866, the manuscript focuses on analyzing the mind of a former law student named Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, who lived in poverty in St. Petersburg. His financial issues isolated him from the world, twisting his view of morality and pushing him to justify a murder he commits even as he struggles with his conscience.
The novel was an immense success and has been regarded as one of the most important works of the 20th century with its dive into psychoanalysis and existentialism. To honor the author and his masterpiece, Montblanc released the Montblanc Writers Edition Fyodor M. Dostoevsky in 1997.
The pen is made from Montblanc’s proprietary precious black resin, with a barrel adorned by Czarist Russia-inspired pattern. A sapphire cabochon is embedded on the simple gold clip, and its domed cap features the novelist’s signature. The design fits the tone of Dostoyevsky works—formal, somber, and sobering.
