Vincent Van Gogh’s vibrant works have inspired many through the decades, even as they were juxtaposed by his tragic life. His bold, swirling strokes that changed post-impressionism continue to be reinterpreted in different media. Legendary director Akira Kurosawa translated his works in a gorgeous, larger-than-life segment of his classic movie “Dreams”. A touching homage to the artist was given in the episode “Vincent and the Doctor” of “Doctor Who” that aired in 2010, while the 2017 film “Loving Vincent” was a visually breathtaking experiment that rotoscoped 65,000 frames of oil painting on canvas. 

Montblanc also honors the man who found beauty in sadness through the Masters of Art Homage to Vincent Van Gogh. Translating his “Wheatfield with a Reaper” from 1889, it showcases a barrel designed with brushtrokes in brown and yellow, imitating wheat reflecting the golden light of the afternoon sun. The pen’s body represents a wood-cutting knife as a nod to his love for Japanese woodblock prints. Its cap is made of wood, with clip modeled after Van Gogh’s palette knife and his famous pipe, a bright yellow section near the finial, and a finial featuring a special Montblanc emblem. The nib is made from Au 750 gold and is engraved with sunflowers.
