The French novelist Marcel Proust is known for mastering psychological realism, doing away with chronology, and bending time to go deeper into his characters and their motivations. He frequently used flashbacks, or more eloquently put, “mémoire involontaire” (involuntary memory), which are reminiscences triggered by a sensory experience. Even his writing displayed this preference, with long sentences that reflect meandering thoughts and streams of consciousness allowing readers to gain an exhaustive understanding of his world building. His most famous novel is “In Search of Lost Time” that boasts being listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest novel of 1,300,000 words spread across seven volumes.
In celebration of his body of work, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Marcel Proust fountain pen (1999). The eighth pen of the line, it features an octagonal silver barrel with fine engraving and the author’s signature on one panel. The trims are also made of silver, and the clip features the old Montblanc logo. (A bonus feature—the barrel end has threads, allowing you to twist the cap when posting.) The two-tone 18-karat nib is etched with an hourglass to symbolize his fascination with bending time.
We have for sale a rare, new-old-stock Montblanc Writers Edition Marcel Proust with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inserts.
