Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German writer, poet, playwright, statesman, and naturalist widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in German literature. Best known for works such as “Faust” and “The Sorrows of Young Werther,” Goethe’s writings and scientific studies left a lasting impact on European literature, philosophy, and intellectual history.
To honor his literary legacy, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Homage to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The rollerball features a blue-grey resin body inspired by the color of the Juno Room in Goethe’s home in Weimar, along with a marbled finish referencing descriptions found in “The Sorrows of Young Werther.” The slightly curved cap shape is inspired by historical chemist’s glass jars, paying tribute to Goethe’s work as a scientist and collector. Its leaf-shaped clip references Goethe’s studies in morphology and his concept of the archetypal plant form.
