Charles Dickens was more than a prolific writer. He was a social critic and a reformer who used his words to expose the underbelly of Victorian England, which was rife with corruption and injustice. His works reached a wide audience due to the empathic way he wrote about the failings of his society, as proven by his very famous works such as “Oliver Twist” that dealt with the oppression of children, and “A Christmas Carol” that acted as a reminder of kindness and morality, and the reawakening of one’s social conscience.
In honor of the author’s timeless works, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Charles Dickens (2001) fountain pen. It has a precious resin body in slate-gray with blue-green undertones, which is etched with Dicken’s signature. This straightforward barrel is complemented by a Ag 925 silver fluted, flat-topped cap. The nib is made from two-toned, 14-karat gold. The pen’s interesting design seemingly reflects the stark divide between social classes during the author’s era.
