Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm—famously known as Brothers Grimm—-were German folklorists and linguists who dropped their law studies to follow local stories and legends across Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, Scotland, and Scandinavia, among other places. They famously compiled “Kinder- und Hausmärchen” (“Children’s and Household Tales”), which had more than two hundred stories, some of which were not suitable for children, but were nonetheless culturally relevant. These included the original version of Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and Rapunzel, which through the years underwent changes to become more palatable to all ages.
To honor their huge contribution to literature, culture, and history, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Brothers Grimm fountain pen, a unique art piece shaped like a hiking stick to signify the pairs’ travels. The black precious resin of the cap and the body symbolize the dark woods that is the setting of many of their tales, etched in elegant waves to mimic Rapunzel’s flowing hair. The clip, which looks like a wooden stick at first glance, is actually the brother’s profile when turned to one angle.
