It is interesting that while we have a pen named after Cardinal Richelieu in this week’s roster, we also have one inspired by the prolific writer Alexandre Dumas, who painted the Cardinal as the main villain of his popular novel, The Three Musketeers.
Published in 1844, the Three Musketeers is a romantic adventure about swashbuckling musketeers under the reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV. Considered the most famous of approximately 250 books of Alexandre Dumas, it is a classic story of friendship, honor, loyalty, and a quest for justice despite a corrupt system that slowly erodes moral integrity.
In honor of a prolific author whose many works continue to inspire readers today, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Alexandre Dumas fountain pen in 1996. Its barrel is made from deep brown special resin that has been meticulously crafted to create an almost mother-of-pearl-like appearance polished to a high shine. The two-toned 18K gold nib has been engraved with fleur-de-lis, a symbol of French royalty and a nod to Dumas’ nationality. The deep brown special resin cap features a clip etched with a musketeer’s sword and a gold-colored signature.
We have for sale a pre-owned Montblanc Writers Edition Alexandre Dumas with an M nib. We’re offering only the pen and its inner book-like-box—no outer box, papers, or other inserts.
Length capped: 14.5 cm.
