Whether or not you're an opera fan, you’ve probably heard of Luciano Pavarotti, one of the greatest voices of all time. Many consider his 1994 Three Tenors performance of “Nessun dorma” the best interpretation of Giacomo Puccini aria: Pavarotti, together with his contemporaries Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, brought the love of opera to a wider audience.
He performed with artists from different genres, democratizing classical music and becoming a global household name. He also helped jumpstart the career of the popular opera and operatic pop singer Andrea Bocelli.
In honor of his many contributions to music, Montblanc released the Patron of Art Luciano Pavarotti in 2015, eight years after his death. The cap and barrel were inspired by the legendary tenor’s black tuxedo and white bow tie he wore during performances, while the intricately patterned barrel end was from the Hawaiian shirts he enjoyed during casual days. Pavarotti was known to wear extravagant scarves (a practice popular among opera singers to keep their vocal cords warm), which were interpreted as the pen’s clip. Etched on the 18-karat gold nib was his unusual lucky charm—a bent nail.
We have for sale a new-old-stock Montblanc Patron of the Art Luciano Pavarotti with an M nib. The pen has been unsealed but never been inked. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inserts.
