Leonard Bernstein was a musical legend, a change-maker, and an inspiration to many people. For theater fans, he's the genius behind "West Side Story", “Candide”, and “Peter Pan”. For classical musicians, he was a gifted pianist and a revered conductor who held the baton before the New York Philharmonic. He has led many historical performances, one of which was of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor in 1989, in celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. To human rights proponents, he was a staunch activist who protested the Vietnam War and championed AIDS/HIV research. 

What Bernstein has achieved in his lifetime is more than what many people hope to accomplish in theirs. Montblanc honors this great man with the Donation Pen Special Edition 1996 Leonard Bernstein. Crafted from precious resin and fitted with gold-plated trims, the pen is an acknowledgement to his legacy. The cap rings are inspired by the West Side Story theme "Maria", and the clip takes the form of a G clef. A dove is etched on its 18k gold nib, a symbol of peace and a testament to Bernstein's unwavering spirit.
