“Starry Night” is one of the most famous works of Vincent Van Gogh. Painted in 1889 during his stay in the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum, it is a beautifully tragic representation of his mental health—suffering a relapse, he had begun seeing hallucinations as interpreted in his work in which the landscape was based purely on his imagination. Yet there is also a sense of hope in the dark spire that reaches to the sky and the stars, and a yearning for transcendence.
The blend of colors in this post-impressionist work is featured in the Visconti Van Gogh Starry Night 2013 fountain pen. This faceted unit is made from natural vegetal resin and has the brand’s familiar bridge clip in chrome and a magnetized cap for security in posting and closing.
