The Platinum Izumo Akatame was created in 2010 with the help of artisans from Izumo City in Shimane Prefecture. It may have a common cigar shape, but crafting it from ebonite before applying urushi in the kuro-tamenuri technique makes creating this pen an intricate endeavor. Interestingly, all its edges are curved—a design decision that can make or break how a pen is held and closed but was successfully executed. A gorgeous blend of black and red, this pen exudes quiet elegance and top-notch artistry.

We have for sale a pre-owned Platinum Izumo Akatame with a two-toned 18-karat nib (F). It has general micro scratches and signs of use. We’re offering only the pen and its converter, no box or papers.
