Urushi pens are sought after due to many reasons, but it is mostly because producing a shiny finish strong enough to withstand constant use for decades requires the slow and painstaking process of painting and repainting natural lacquer on a resilient base material.
The Pilot Custom Urushi 845 is a testament to this high level of craftsmanship, with its elegantly compact flat-end design. The first release was Black, followed by the popular Vermillion, which many consider a rite of passage in owning urushi pens. The third release is Dark Blue that features a navy cap and body framed by black resin cap lip, finial, and barrel end. Its base is ebonite and the trims are gold plated. The pen is installed with an 18-karat gold nib.
We have for sale a brand new Pilot Custom Urushi 845 Deep Blue with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inserts.
