Demonstrator fountain pens can sometimes look informal, partially because it’s difficult to be sleek when the filling mechanism is on display (which is precisely the point of a demonstrator). The Pilot Custom 823, however, manages to pull off a classy vibe with its cigar silhouette and a clear barrel bordered by a black piston knob, section, and cap finial. The gold trims add to the elegance, and the 14-karat gold nib brings this pen’s performance to another level. 

What we love about this vacuum-filler pen is how it changes its look depending on the ink you’ve loaded it with (it can carry a maximum of 2.55 ml). Just a reminder, though: regularly rinse it to keep it pristine and avoid staining.
