The Pilot Custom 74 was based off the Pilot 65, a cigar-shaped pen that was released in 1983 to celebrate the brand’s 65th anniversary. The 65 more than marked a milestone—it became the turning point of Pilot’s future releases, as it was one of the pens that inspired the Custom series, heavily influencing the reliable Custom 74.
The Custom 74 is as classic as it gets. Aside from the fact that it’s one of the few straight-forward lines that offers gold nibs at very economical price points, it also comes in different colors and designs. Today, we have for sale a Custom 74 in burgundy. A great “level up” pen for beginners looking to graduate from the Prera, this specific unit has a 14-karat gold nib in B and almost no signs of use. We’re offering only the pen, no box or papers.
