Nakaya is known for their rich urushi designs, but they’ve also created several wood-based fountain pens on which they allowed the grain pattern to shine. One of them is the Nakaya Briarwood, which come in different shades (from deep to light brown) and sheens (from matte to glossy).
The pre-owned Nakaya Briarwood we have for sale is reddish-brown and has been finished with lacquer for that bright gloss. It’s in good condition with barely any signs of use, measures around 12.5 cm. uncapped, and carries a 14K gold F nib with its old design (a “Nakata” logo instead of “Nakaya”). It also features an interesting accessory—a roll stop made from sterling silver, intricately carved into the shape of a piccolo, which is the smallest woodwind instrument in an orchestra. The latter costs around $220, which adds to the value of the unit. We’re offering only the pen with its roll-stop, no box or papers.
