Alexadre Dumas was the celebrated French writer who wrote “The Count of Monte Cristo”, which was the novel that inspired Jose Rizal to pen the “El Filibusterismo”.
More than influencing a country’s national hero, however, Dumas continues to inspire many readers through the centuries with his swash-bucking tales of adventure such as “The Three Musketeers”, which has also been the basis of many modern-day films.
Dumas wrote with a dramatic flair, moving between bright, exciting escapades and dark debates on morality with literary ease, all the while building a world of flamboyance. In his honor, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Alexandre Dumas in 1996, which has a barrel of resin crafted to have a cracked marble-like appearance and finished to a lustrous sheen. Its cap, barrel end, and section are made from dark brown resin, and accented by gold trims. The nib is made from 18K gold and has an elegant fleur-de-lis engraving—a nod to Dumas’ French heritage. On one side of the cap is an etching of the author’s signature.
