Georg Solti was a skilled pianist and one of the best orchestral and operatic conductors of the 20th century. As music director, he reestablished the reputation of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in international circles as he worked with them from 1969 to 1991. He also held several positions at different opera companies in Munich and Frankfurt, and became musical director of London’s Royal Opera House at Covent Garden.
Solti’s intense attention to detail allowed for spirited interpretations of Romantic era composers such as Beethoven, Wagner, and Mahler, displaying a wide range of tonal variations rarely experienced in performances. He was also a prolific recording artist, having won a total of 31 Grammy Awards during his lifetime.
In honor of this musical giant, Montblanc released the Montblanc Donation Pen Sir George Solti in 2005. It features a clip representing a piano key and rings on its cap similar to a musical staff. The precious resin barrel displays Solti’s signature in red, and the pen is highlighted by platinum-coated fittings and a rhodium-plated 18K gold nib engraved with a dove.
We have for sale a pre-owned Montblanc Donation Pen Sir George Solti with an F nib. It’s a partial set that includes the pen, its inner box and its book. No outer box.
