The Montblanc 149 has had two nib colorways: tri-color and bi-color. The former was the original design from the 1950s, which was transitioned to the latter in the 1970s, running until the mid-’90s. In the late ‘90s to the 2000s, the brand went black to the model’s traditional tri-color nib, this time tagged as “18K” (not the original “18C”), and 149s have been produced with this nib colorway ever since. 

Whatever the design is, one can be assured of a reliable writing experience with the Montblanc 149. We have a pre-owned unit for sale with a tri-color M nib, which has a bit of feedback. The pen is in good condition with very minimal micro scratches, but it comes without its box or papers.
