The lever filler was quite common in fountain pens in the early 1900s. It’s a simple mechanism which includes a lever, a pressure bar, and a sac. Basically, you use the lever to push down the bar to squeeze the sac. Pull the lever in and a vacuum is created, allowing the sac to fill up with ink.
The lever filler seems to have a resurgence in recent years, with several brands producing fountain pens carrying them. Conway Stewart is an example—who never actually stopped producing lever fill pens.
Conway Stewart has its own patented lever filler design, which is featured in this pen made from marbled acrylic. Aside from the lever itself, its 9K gold trims also give it a vintage appeal, perfect for those looking for old school elegance.
We have a pre-Pen Family Conway Stewart Honey Noire Lever-Fill fountain pen with an 18K gold nib (M) pen for sale. It’s marked #57 of the production line, is in near-mint condition with barely any signs of use, and comes with a brand new sac. We’re offering only the pen, no box or papers.
