Painted with oil on canvas in 1890, “Wheatfield with Crows” is probably one of Van Gogh’s most famous pieces and is considered by many to be his very last work. The painting itself has a melancholy backstory, as the artist contrasted golden wheat, representing the strength that the countryside gave him, with the angry, stormy sky symbolizing his feelings of extreme loneliness.
Van Gogh’s ability to transform tragedy into beauty is honored by Visconti with the Van Gogh Wheatfield with Crows fountain pen, which was inspired by the art. Predominantly blue, the resin cap and the body feature wavy paint-like hues that call back to Van Gogh’s angry skies, with its gold section, nib, and trims providing the wheatfields’ intensity. It measures capped and 15.83 cm posted.
