Dr. Paul Gachet was a homeopathic doctor who worked with Vincent Van Gogh during his time in an asylum at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. While the artist had his initial misgivings, Vincent quickly warmed to the doctor, writing to his sister Wilhemina that “I have found a true friend in Dr. Gachet, something like another brother, so much do we resemble each other physically and also mentally.” 

There are two verified portraits of Dr. Gachet, and the first version inspired the Visconti Van Gogh Dr. Gachet fountain pen. Its resin body features shades of dark blue, grey, and green, with splashes of yellow and red. It carries a steel nib and Visconti’s magnetic cap mechanism.
