Sailor Pro Gear Slim Mini Rencontre Pistache

“Rencontre” is the French word for “encounter,” a name Sailor chose to describe the meeting of transparent, durable acrylic resin with the depth and character of a marble pattern. In 2023, Sailor returned to the Rencontre series with a second collection of three limited colors inspired by nature, including Pistache, a fresh green colorway reminiscent of its namesake pistachio. 

What makes the Rencontre particularly interesting is that its marbling is not simply printed or applied to the surface. Sailor developed its own technique for injection-molding acrylic resin so that two colors partially blend without completely melting into one another. The process produces a glossy pattern with visible depth, and because the colors mix irregularly, no two barrels come out exactly the same. 

The Pistache brings that craftsmanship to Sailor’s compact Pro Gear Slim Mini form, pairing its softly marbled green resin with gold-toned metal accents. Despite its pocket-friendly proportions, it carries a 14-karat gold Medium-Fine nib, giving the little pen the same distinctly Sailor writing character expected from its larger counterparts.
