Drying flowers has been practiced for many, many centuries, initially for medical purposes and later for aesthetics. In Europe, dried flowers have become a symbol of love and longevity as they remain perpetually in bloom, while in Japan, oshibana uses these botanical materials to create nature-inspired pictures.
Roses in all colors are commonly dried, however, “black” roses are not truly black, but a deep, crimson. In 1988, the then Keisei Rose Research Institute Seizo Suzuki developed the Kuroshinju (Black Pearl), a type of rose with areas of very deep red that appear black. This is only one of his many hybrids, which include Amanogawa, French Perfume and Mikado, among others.
Inspired by the almost mythical kurobara, Sailor released the Pro Gear Slim Dried Flowers II Eucalyptus, part of the second set of the Dried Flowers series. It features a slightly translucent cream barrel, a black cap, and a sparkly black section and finial. It has gold-plated trims and a 14-karat gold nib engraved with a flower bouquet.
We have for sale a brand new Sailor Pro Gear Slim Dried Flowers II Marigold with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
Length capped: 12.4 cm.
Length uncapped 11 cm.
