The rare Platinum Izumo Yakumonuri Togi Yakumo fountain pen features gold powder detailing Yakumo, or the “eight rising clouds” that decorate the ceiling of the Izumo Taisha. It features Yakumonuri, an intricate urushi layering technique invented by Heiichi Sakata during the Meiji period, inspired by the oldest Japanese poem “Yakumo Tatsu”, which speaks of the clouds of Izumo. This technique is blended with touches of Togidashi Maki-e on an ebonite base.

The Platinum Izumo line is a homage to Izumo, a storied city that played a role in Japan’s creation, and the Izumo Taisha, one of the country’s oldest and most sacred shrines where gods are said to meet.

We have for sale a Platinum Izumo Yakumonuri Togi Yakumo fountain pen with an 18-karat gold nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
