Founded in 1919, Platinum takes its name from platinum, which its first president, Shunichi Nakata, believed to be the “king of metals.” In 2019, the company celebrated its centennial by releasing a revived version of the “Platinum Platinum” fountain pen, the world’s first fountain pen with a platinum nib that debuted in 1967. Coined Platinum Century “THE PRIME,” it had two iterations, one of which is in sterling silver.
The Platinum Century “THE PRIME” 100th Anniversary Sterling Silver fountain pen features a silver body with a lattice pattern, with each groove carefully painted black to achieve contrast. This cartridge/converter pen carries a 14-karat, rhodium-plated gold nib with special engraving to commemorate the occasion.
