Dating back to the mid 1400s, kouchi (lattice) was designed to protect privacy by shielding the interiors of abodes from public view. They’re tailored to the type of building they’ll be used in: for example, sakaya-koushi were used for sake breweries, while shimotoya-koushi were for private residences.
This architectural structure is the inspiration for the Pilot Silvern Koushi (Lattice). The vintage Silvern collection features cigar-shaped fountain pens with a cap and body made of sterling silver engraved with different designs depicting Japanese cultural symbols. With a cap and barrel made from sterling silver, this pen is engraved with a cross-hatch pattern reminiscent of traditional Japanese windows.
We have for sale a brand-new unit, complete with its box and papers.
