Seirei-Nuri, or “dragonfly lacquering”, mimics the pattern on dragonfly wings and is achieved by mixing urushi with certain compounds before being gently dripped over water. The pen is then dipped in this mixture, and the urushi clings to the surface, creating a unique web-like pattern which is then sprinkled with the powder of a precious metal such as gold.
This technique is seen on the Pilot Maki-e Seirei-Nuri fountain pen. It features a webbed gold pattern against a black urushi surface on a brass body. Trims are gold-plated, and the nib is made from 14-karat gold.
We have for sale a brand-new Pilot Maki-e Seirei-Nuri with an SFM (Soft-Fine-Medium) nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
