Pilot Decimo Schiaparelli Red LE

Schiaparelli Red has a history closely tied to Mitsukoshi. The vivid vermilion shade was used for the department store’s iconic “Hanahiraku” wrapping paper, introduced in 1950 with a design by artist Genichiro Inokuma. Its striking color became one of the most recognizable elements of the Mitsukoshi identity. 

That heritage became the inspiration for this special Pilot Capless Decimo, released in 2022.The aluminum body combines Schiaparelli Red with white in a distinctive two-tone painted finish, setting it apart from the single-color finishes normally associated with the Decimo. The brighter red provides the visual focus, while the white section creates a clean contrast that emphasizes the pen’s slim, streamlined silhouette. 

Like other Capless Decimo models, it uses Pilot’s retractable knock mechanism, allowing the 18K gold nib to extend and retract with a single press rather than requiring a conventional cap. Its lightweight profile and slimmer proportions make the Decimo particularly suited to everyday writing, while the Medium nib offers a broader, smoother line than Pilot’s finer nib options.
