Pilot’s anniversary pens are a testament to the brand’s promise of upholding customs and craftsmanship through the execution of traditional techniques and themes. For its 90th anniversary, Pilot released the two pens created by master artisan Yasunori Sakamoto and inspired by “toki,” or the crested ibis, a bird mentioned in one of Japan’s oldest historical annotations called “Nihon Shoki.” For Pilot, it is a symbol of the company’s aspirations and a means of promoting environmental conservation.
One of the two anniversary pens is the Raden Toki, an elegant instrument featuring mother-of-pearl fragments moving in from its flat ends to the center, and silver powder radiating from its center outward. The cap features a band with two toki flying over waves. Its No. 10 nib is made of 18-karat gold and engraved with a special 90th anniversary design. The result is a refined design finished with Togidashi Maki-e (Burnished Maki-e) that reflects minimalism while showcasing the intricacies of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
We have for sale a Pilot 90th Anniversary Raden Toki fountain pen (cartridge/converter), complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
