An ancient technique for decorating Damascus steel is etching it with different designs before layering it with gold. The blended metals are then heated to produce an embossed effect, during which the steel blackens to contrast and lift the gold areas.
This technique was used on the gold-layered, 925 Toledo sterling silver barrel sheath of the Pelikan M910 Toledo. The Toledo line, introduced in 1991, initially had the M900 designation, which was updated to M910 in 2009. The Pelikan M910 Toledo Yellow was released in 2010 and features a barrel with an intricate pelican design. It is finished with a cap, section, and a piston knob of yellow resin and silver trims.
We have for sale a pre-owned Pelikan M910 Toledo Yellow with a two-tone, 18C-750 gold nib in M. There are some hairline cracks and staining on the cap, but these do not affect functionality. We’re offering only the pen, no box or papers.
