Damascus steel is popular not only for its unique combination of hardness and flexibility, but also for its distinct wavy pattern. Creating designs on it has been an art form for thousands of years, wherein an artisan would engrave delicate forms that would be covered with a thin film of gold and embossed. The material would then be heated to around 800°C, turning the steel parts black and the gold parts shiny.
This art form is featured on the Pelikan M900 Toledo Black, using a single piece of 925 sterling silver engraved with a pelican design and later layered with gold. It features a black resin cap, section, and piston knob, and a translucent green ink window. Its trims are gold-plated to complement the barrel.
We have for sale a brand new Pelikan M900 Toledo Black with a two-tone 18C-750 nib in M. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
