Dating back to the Neolithic period, Athens in Greece is one of the world’s oldest cities and has a continuous history of approximately 5,000 years. Named after the goddess Athena, it was a hub of art and logic during the 5th century, and it's credited with the birth of democracy as well as many movements in Western philosophy. Athens was an ancient naval power, and its culture is closely tied to the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea.
The Pelikan M620 Athens takes inspiration from this storied city, with its slightly translucent barrel reminiscent of the waters surrounding it, and the light sparkle of yellow-gold, a representation of sunlight touching waves. Released in 2004, it comes with a bicolor, 18-karat gold nib and gold-plated trims. This fountain pen is part of the M620 City Series, which ran from 2001 to 2006.
