Roiro is an urushi technique used to polish the upper lacquer layer of a surface into a mirror-like shine with the help of a specific kind of charcoal. Wiping and sanding are required to make sure the surface has no impurities or scratches even before it’s painted with a layer of high-quality raw lacquer and dried.
Needless to say, roiro is a very labor-intensive technique that produces an impeccable lacquer finish. This is seen on the Namiki Yukari Royale Black fountain pen. As the Kokkokai collective’s work already speaks for itself, it only features simple, gold-tinted trims. It’s crowned with a #20, 18-karat gold nib.
We have for sale a brand new Namiki Yukari Royale Black with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inserts.
