In Japan, pine (“matsu”) is one of three plants, including plum blossoms and bamboo, that are part of “Shochikubai”, which represents winter. Pine is a common backdrop in Japanese art and is seen as a symbol of persistence and dedication, as the Japanese word for this tree, “matsu”, also means “to wait”.
Branches of pine are featured on the Namiki Yukari Pine Needles, as interpreted by the artisan group Kokkokai using the Togidashi-Hira Maki-e (Burnished-Flat Maki-e) technique. It carries a No. 10, 18-karat gold nib.
We have for sale a brand-new Namiki Yukari Pine Needles fountain pen, complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
