“Take ni suzume” (sparrow in bamboo) is a motif often used in traditional Japanese art. Seen in woodblock paintings, scrolls, and fabrics, it features a blend of symbolism: the bamboo represents resilience, while the sparrow depicts joy. Together, they represent happiness in both strength and vulnerability.
This theme inspired the Namiki Yukari Chinkin Bamboo and Sparrow fountain pen created by artisan Yasuji Sumi, who used the Chinkin technique, wherein the design is carved onto a lacquered surface then inlaid with gold leaves and powder to produce an intricate visual texture.
We have for sale a brand-new Namiki Yukari Chinkin Bamboo and Sparrow fountain pen, complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
