Voltaire, whose real name is François-Marie Arouet, was a philosopher and considered to be one of the greatest French authors of all time. He was an activist who pushed against religious intolerance with a deism that challenged and often scandalized the devout, making him one of the leaders of the Age of Enlightenment.
It would be a gross understatement to say that Voltaire was a prolific writer. In his lifetime, he had written satire, epic poems, several publications on history, as well as more than 20,000 letters.
In honor of this towering change-maker, the Montblanc Writers Edition Voltaire was released in 1995. This piston-filler fountain pen is made from precious black resin and adorned with gold trims, most interesting of which are those on its cap—gold vermeil etched with curlicues reminiscent of the cover borders of Voltaire’s books. It also features Voltaire’s signature on one side.
We have for sale a pre-owned Montblanc Writers Edition Voltaire (00262/20000) fitted with an 18K gold nib (M). It’s in near-mint condition with minimal microscratches. We’re offering only the pen, no box or papers.
