Montblanc Writers Edition Voltaire

Voltaire, whose real name is François-Marie Arouet, was a philosopher and is considered one of the greatest French authors of all time. He was an activist whose wit and words often resulted in clashes with the government. Undeterred, he continued to push against religious intolerance with a deism that challenged and often scandalized the devout, making him one of the leaders of the Age of Enlightenment. 

It would be a gross understatement to say that Voltaire was a prolific writer when one looks at his impact and influence. In his lifetime, he had written satire, the most famous of which was “Candide, ou l'Optimisme”, epic poems such as the “Henriade” and “The Maid of Orleans”, several publications on history such as “History of Charles XII, King of Sweden (1731)”, “The Age of Louis XIV (1751)”, and “Annals of the Empire – Charlemagne, AD 742 – Henry VII 1313, Vol. I (1754)”, as well as more than 20,000 letters. 

In honor of this towering change-maker, the Montblanc Writers Edition Voltaire was released in 1995. This piston-filler fountain pen is made from precious black resin and adorned with gold trims.
