“The Raven” is one of the most enduring poems in gothic literature. Written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1845, it describes a young man mourning the loss of his beloved Lenore, and a raven that keeps on visiting him that cries “Nevermore! Nevermore!” It is said that the raven was an hallucination, a representation of unending grief, and the curse of living with the eternal remembrance of what one has lost.
The raven in this poem is highlighted on the nib of the 1998 Montblanc Writers Edition Edgar Allan Poe. Etched in 18-karat gold, it perfectly blends with the pen’s smokey blue pattern and black borders, encapsulating how the author masterfully wove dark emotions into his work.
